Luminary Night in Downing Creek
Each winter holiday season Downing Creek celebrates by lining our neighborhood streets with candles. New and established neighbors are encouraged to participate in this beautiful night, a chance to come out and delight in the wonder of a candle lit winter evening.
Luminary Night will be Saturday, December 8th, 2007 6-8 PM (Rain date Saturday December 15th same time) Please note that in the last newsletter the RED SHEETS ARE CORRECT, while the GREEN SHEETS ARE WRONG.
Free sand will be available at the pool parking lot Friday, December 7th.
HELP YOUR NEIGHBROHOOD SHINE! To keep this tradition going we need at least 12 volunteers to assist in assembling & setting luminaries on Downing Creek Parkway. Volunteers will meet at the pool parking lot at 2 PM on Saturday, Luminary Day. Families and children are welcome – it’s a really fun afternoon and appropriate for young helpers! If we do not have enough volunteers to complete the Parkway, then parts will be left dark. (Please contact Rebecca Board if you can volunteer, though last minute help is welcome!)
If you will not be home for this event, please consider purchasing the kits and asking your neighbors to set them out. When everyone participates, the community enjoyment is much greater.
Please fill out the order form below and turn it in to your block captain with payment no later than Sunday, November 19th. Your designated Block Captain will deliver your order. (Please contact Bev Dyer if you have missed this deadline.)
(We have contacted the fire department and confirmed that luminaries are exempt from the burning restrictions, but please clear leaves from around the bags since the street sweeper came earlier than requested and may not be back.) |
